City of Eternal Spring

Medellín, is the second largest City in Colombia, after Bogota, and the Capital of the Department of Antioquia. It’s Nicknamed La Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera or “City of Eternal “Springs,”for its nearly perfect weather with temperatures averaging a mild 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. You will find plenty of parks and plazas, where you can enjoy the sunshine with a fresh juice from a street food vendor and a couple of empanadas. For example, it’s pretty common to hear phrases ;El Plata Paisa, or La Bandeja Paisa, or Él es Paisa, or Ellos son Paisa. Paisas, as the people from Medellin are affectionately known are famously friendly. It is not unusual to feel welcome anywhere you go in Colombia, but in Medellin you get the sense that people are genuinely happy to see you visit. Paisas are known to speak Antioqueñan Spanish, which is a distinct accent in Colombian Culture. You can even refer to it as ‘Paisa Spanish’. Once you hear it, you will be mesmerized for life.
